IT Systems Analyst
STARLIMS Corporation is a global software vendor delivering Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and scientific data management solutions to life sciences organisations worldwide. With a growing cloud-first infrastructure and a commitment to security and operational excellence, we are expanding our IT team to support our continued growth following our acquisition by Turn/River Capital.
Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced IT Systems Administrator to join our IT & Security team based in Sale, Manchester. This is a hands-on, mid-level role requiring a strong working knowledge of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, combined with the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgement when triaging and resolving issues.
You will be the primary point of contact for end-user support across our UK and global user base, while also contributing to identity management, security operations, and collaboration platform administration. The role works closely with cloud and security colleagues and reports directly to the Global Director of Cloud Operations, IT & Security.
Core Objectives:
- Deliver responsive remote, telephone, and on-site desktop support to local and distributed users.
- Maintain the security health, identity framework, and productivity tooling of the Microsoft 365 environment.
- Own incident lifecycle management — logging, updating, escalating, and closing tickets efficiently via the internal Service Desk platform.
- Operate with a degree of autonomy, making sound prioritisation decisions and proactively identifying recurring issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Identity & Access Management
- Provision and deprovision user accounts, manage dynamic and security groups, and handle MFA resets using Microsoft Entra ID.
- Conduct regular audits of sign-in logs and Conditional Access policies to identify anomalies.
- Support onboarding and offboarding workflows in alignment with HR and security processes.
Security Operations & Triage
- Monitor the Microsoft Defender 365 Security console and respond to alerts in a timely manner.
- Investigate and remediate phishing reports, isolate compromised accounts, and manage email quarantine.
- Escalate complex security incidents to the Global Director or relevant security resource as appropriate.
Collaboration & Messaging Administration
- Manage shared mailboxes, distribution lists, and mail-enabled security groups in Exchange Online.
- Troubleshoot Microsoft Teams voice, video, and connectivity issues for end users.
- Administer SharePoint and OneDrive permission structures and support document management requests.
End-User & Desktop Support
- Diagnose and resolve hardware faults, peripheral issues, and operating system problems.
- Deploy and configure Windows devices via Microsoft Intune and Autopilot.
- Troubleshoot Microsoft 365 application issues including Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.
- Maintain asset records and contribute to IT documentation and knowledge base articles.
Remote Monitoring & Management (RMM)
- Deploy, configure, and maintain RMM tooling across the endpoint estate (e.g. Automox).
- Manage patch policies, software deployment, and compliance reporting via the RMM platform.
- Monitor device health and connectivity across remote and on-site endpoints, responding to alerts and remediation tasks.
- Build and maintain automation workflows within the RMM platform to reduce manual overhead and enforce configuration baselines.
- Ensure RMM coverage is maintained for all managed devices and that agent health is regularly reviewed.
Requirements:
Essential
- 2–4 years of experience in an IT Service Desk, Systems Administration, or MSP environment.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), including account lifecycle and MFA management.
- Demonstrable experience with Microsoft Defender 365 and responding to security alerts.
- Hands-on experience with Exchange Online administration and Microsoft Teams troubleshooting.
- Confident deploying and managing Windows endpoints via Microsoft Intune and Autopilot.
- Experience deploying and administering an RMM platform (e.g. Automox, NinjaRMM, ConnectWise, Datto, or similar).
- Ability to work independently, manage a varied ticket queue, and communicate clearly with non-technical users.
- Eligible to work in the United Kingdom without sponsorship.
Desirable
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate (MD-102).
- Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals (SC-900).
- Automox or equivalent RMM platform certification or advanced administration experience.
- Experience with SharePoint Online administration and permissions management.
- Familiarity with IT Service Management (ITSM) platforms and ITIL principles.
- Exposure to PowerShell scripting for M365 administration tasks.
- Experience working in a software vendor or SaaS environment.
What We Offer:
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
- Hybrid working — minimum 2 days per week in our Hollywood, FL office.
- Opportunity to work within a growing global technology organization following a significant investment and acquisition period.
- Exposure to a modern cloud-first infrastructure spanning AWS and Microsoft 365.
- Supportive team environment with access to senior cloud, security, and infrastructure colleagues.
- Support for professional development and Microsoft certification paths.
